Shopify virtual try-on: requirements and setup
WeTryOn is a Shopify app. Install it, add one block in your theme editor, and shoppers can see your products on themselves in live AI video, right on your product pages. Here is what it needs from your store.
How WeTryOn works on Shopify
1. Install the app
From the Shopify App Store. WeTryOn asks for the fewest permissions it needs, listed below.
2. Add the block
The setup guide opens your theme editor with the Try it on block already added. Drag it under your Buy buttons and save. No theme code is edited.
3. Check your products
Wearable products are detected at install. Confirm any marked “Needs your input”, and the button appears on them.
What WeTryOn needs on Shopify
Which Shopify themes it works with
WeTryOn is an app block, so it needs an Online Store 2.0 theme: Dawn and most current themes in the Theme Store qualify. Older vintage themes have no product template that can hold app blocks. If your live theme is one of them, the WeTryOn home page in your admin says so instead of guessing.
The permissions it asks for, and why
Read products, to find which products are wearable and use their photos. Read themes, to check whether the Try it on block is placed on your live theme. An app proxy, so the button on your storefront talks to WeTryOn through your own store's address. There is no customer or order permission: WeTryOn never sees who your shoppers are or what they buy.
When the button doesn't show
The button appears only on products that are ready. A product marked “Needs your input” waits for you to confirm its type on the Products page; one detected as not wearable, or one you switched off, stays hidden. The block must also be on your live theme, not a copy or a development theme, and try-on must be switched on in Settings.
Password-protected and development stores
The button works behind a storefront password, so you can test before you launch. On a development store, Shopify lets you choose a plan without being charged, so you can run real try-ons while you build.
Removing it
Remove the block in your theme editor, then uninstall from the Apps page in your Shopify admin. Try-ons stop straight away, and everything WeTryOn holds about your store is deleted about 48 hours later. There is no theme code to clean up, because WeTryOn never edits it.

Does WeTryOn work with any Shopify theme?
WeTryOn works with Online Store 2.0 themes, which support app blocks — that includes Dawn and most current themes. Older vintage themes can't hold app blocks.
Does virtual try-on slow my Shopify store down?
Before a shopper taps, the WeTryOn button adds a few kilobytes served from Shopify's CDN. The try-on code loads only after a tap.
Do I need to edit theme code to add WeTryOn?
No. WeTryOn is a theme app block, added and removed in the theme editor.
